8 Neat Video Games to Play on a MacBook

As someone who owns a MacBook, you might be on the fence about trying video games. The device is not really known for gaming and for a good reason.

Most gamers prefer custom-built desktop computers, gaming laptops, and gaming consoles. But it does not mean that Macs are not good for gaming.

Even if you have a relatively old model, you can still expect to run some games with relative ease. You can also go for a Mac benchmark testing to get a better idea of what to expect from the device.

Now, as for what games you can play, there are quite a few options in various genres. Our list focuses on some of the most popular titles.

1 - Borderlands

If you are an avid shooter fan with a bit of fantasy and loot added, Borderlands should be one of the first games to try.

There is a notable character progression as you go through the campaign. And after you finish, you can continue and grow your character until you reach the endgame. After that, it is about how much effort you want to put into upgrading your gear to take down endgame enemies.

The story and humor are one of the strongest aspects of the franchise, and you have multiple games to go through, which should keep you busy for a while.

2 - Disco Elysium

A story-driven game that does not excel in combat and many other aspects we associate with modern games.

Disco Elysium is about storytelling as you explore the world in the shoes of a detective who wakes up in a hotel room one day and wants to figure out what is going on.

The game is not intense. You can take it slowly and not rush, soaking in all the little details about the world as you uncover the secrets behind the characters in the story.

3 - Hades

Are you a fan of mythology? No? Not a problem because Hades is a game that excels in excellent storytelling, characterization, soundtrack, and replayability.

Roguelike games have become quite popular in recent years, and Hades stands as one of the genre-defining titles. The sequel is already announced, and the fans cannot wait for the next installment.

Play as Zagreus as you try to escape the underworld and reach the surface. There are multiple challenges along the way, as well as help from the Olympians. The combat does not get repetitive because you can enable challenges and combine various weapons and boons to create a new build for each run.

4 - Cuphead

Cuphead is a game that is suitable for hardcore gamers. The game mechanics are punishing, which creates understandable frustration.

Do not believe that the visuals reminding you of those old cartoons indicate that the game is fun. If you are up for a challenge, then you should definitely give it a try.

5 - Diablo III

Diablo IV is around the corner, but the third installment in the franchise is a perfect way to pass the time.

There is nothing complex about the game. It is exactly what one needs to mindlessly slay monsters and create an unstoppable force that wipes the hordes of minions from hell.

6 - Stardew Valley

Those who are looking for a chill and relaxing time should try Stardew Valley. You start by inheriting a farm and go on your way to becoming a recognizable figure in the world of agriculture.

The game is reminiscent of those games you might have played on Facebook back in the day. However, Stardew Valley is much more complex than that, offering hours and hours of content.

7 - Fortnite

Battle Royale video games might not be as popular as they were during the peak years, but there are still plenty of players who enjoy Fortnite.

The game does not have high demands in terms of hardware, which is why it is an excellent option for Mac owners.

You might be put off by the graphics at first, but a few matches will put those concerns to rest because you will get used to the visuals and begin to appreciate them.

8 - The Elder Scrolls: Online

MMORPGs are pretty lackluster these days, but you can still find some worthwhile titles. TES: Online is one such example.

Based on the popular The Elder Scrolls franchise, this MMORPG opens another dimension to the world of Elder Scrolls and lets you explore it in an MMO setting.
